MARIETTA, Ga.—Facing rising raw materials costs and continued pricing pressures from shipping and logistics, Birla Carbon is preparing to institute a price increase on its specialty blacks.
The global increase, specific details of which were not disclosed, takes effect Dec. 1. Birla Carbon customers are encouraged to contact their sales representative with questions.
"Birla Carbon is committed to providing high quality carbon black products for its customers and values their continued support," the company said in a notification.
Birla, in April, raised prices on specialty carbon blacks by up to 9 percent. At the time, the company cited rising costs of materials and logistics as the reason for the increase.
Several months later, Birla Carbon increased prices for all products manufactured Europe, the Middle East and Africa, by up to $118 per metric ton. This, the company said, was intended to support investments in improving operations and the quality of products.
