HAMBURG, Germany—Biesterfeld A.G. has extended its long-standing collaboration with ExxonMobil Chemical Co. by starting distribution of Vistalon EPDM rubber in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The EPDM is described as exhibiting exceptional physical properties and processing advantages. In addition to high ozone and UV stability it is highly-resistant to chemicals and heat. At the other end of the temperature scale, the product is claimed to have good electrical insulation and compression set in cold conditions.
"By expanding our distribution rights to include the U.K. and Ireland, we are enhancing our offer of high-performance polymers," said Guy Payne, managing director of Biesterfeld Petroplas. "The outstanding properties of Vistalon EPDM will provide our customers with competitive advantages, reinforcing our market position within the synthetic rubber industry."
A major product area for Vistalon EPDM is manufacturing of interior and exterior gaskets, plus cable insulation and flexible hoses. This makes it suitable for a range of automotive applications and other consumer goods.
The material can be processed using injection and extrusion molding. In addition, it can be calendared into sheet for roofing products.
