AVON LAKE, Ohio—Avient Corp. is adding a little color to the wire and cable sector.
The company, which formed when PolyOne Corp. acquired Clariant A.G.'s masterbatch business, said its new OnColor WC Choice colorants are cost-effective and compatible with ethylene-vinyl acetate and polyethylene, making them ideal for use in telecommunications, energy and power, and automotive applications.
"We've launched the line of OnColor WC Choice colorants to help our customers be more cost-competitive without sacrificing quality or convenience," Jayson Humble, marketing leader for Avient, said in statement.
OnColor WC Choice features 12 standard colors, which the company said allows for minimum order quantities and shorter lead times, as the products typically can ship same-day.
Avient's line of OnColor WC Choice colorants are commercially available in North and South America, with additional global availability pending.
PolyOne—now Avient—completed its acquisition of the color masterbatch businesses of Clariant July 1. That deal, which was announced in December, added 46 manufacturing sites and technology centers in 29 countries and about 3,500 employees to Avient's previous total.
The business acquired has annual sales of $1.1 billion.
Prior to the Clariant deal, Avient employed 5,600 worldwide and posted sales of $2.9 billion in 2019.
