PHILADELPHIA—Stockwell Elastomerics Inc., a producer of custom gaskets and seals, is offering a new silicone-based sponge and foam gasket that the company says can withstand harsh environments, including temperature extremes and rain.
Stockwell now has on its shelves three new types of gasket tape products using the company's DP-1001 silicone adhesive backing: a red and orange closed cell silicone sponge; a white, low-density silicone foam; and a red, medium-density silicone foam. All are available in slit-to-width rolls.
Customers can obtain a sample of the adhesive backing to see if it is suitable for their use, Stockwell said.
"Gasket tape with DP-1001 film-supported silicone adhesive provides our customers with high performance silicone sponge and silicone foam gasketing in tape form that can withstand extreme temperatures," said Bill Stockwell, president of Stockwell Elastomerics. "Further, the polyimide film support and easy peel release liner allows for easier installation than other legacy silicone sponge gaskets with silicone adhesive backing."
According to the company, the film layer withstands a temperature range of minus-100 degrees Fahrenheit to more than 500 degrees Fahrenheit and can be used in industrial ovens and dryers, as well as ventilating and airflow applications.
