TOKYO—Shin-Etsu's silicones business has posted a slight growth in sales and a healthy increase in operating income for the first half of its financial year, started April 2019.
Net sales rose 0.8 percent year-over-year to $1.05 billion, while operating income jumped 7.1 percent to $285,325, Shin-Etsu reported in its half-year statement released on Oct. 25.
The Japanese chemicals company said the silicones business was affected by a price-decline for general-purpose products during the six months to the end of September.
However, it went on to say, shipments held strong as a result of the strong performance of functional and other products.
