GARDEN GROVE, Calif.—R.D. Abbott Co. Inc. and several of its supply partners will present at LSR 2022, a conference addressing all things LSR and how it can be processed using liquid injection molding machines.
R.D. Abbott, a materials science, engineering and distribution company, also is the lead organizer and sponsor for the Sept. 13-15 event set to take place in Irvine, Calif.
Presenters include William Inman Jr., lead scientist for DuPont, who will discuss "Navigating the Ever-Evolving Regulatory Landscape of Low Molecular Weight Cyclic Siloxanes in Healthcare Applications" on Sept. 13 at 9:30 a.m. Inman will be joined by colleagues Sabine Springael and Joseph Tobin.
The talk will focus on low molecular weight siloxanes (D4, D5 and D6) and their toxicity concerns.
Jake Steinbrecher, an engineer at Dow, will present "Production Efficiency: A Collaborative Approach to Manufacturing Complex Optical LSR Parts" on Sept. 13 at noon. Steinbrecher will be joined by Kurt Manigatter of Elmet to discuss LSR processing for complex products.
Craig Lustek, application engineer at R.D. Abbott, will participate in a panel discussion about LSR processing on Sept. 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. Lustek will be joined by a number of other experts in the silicone industry.
Rick Ziebell, vice president of technology and technical fellow for R.D. Abbott, will present "How to Determine the Cure Time for a Molded LSR Part" on Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. Ziebell will focus on predictive and analytical methods, including "a rheology-based calculator that estimates the state of cure and that can be used to establish LIM process settings and for estimating cycle time when quoting molded parts."
"R.D. Abbott is honored to join such a distinguished group of technical presenters at the LSR 2022 conference," said Ziebell. "LSR 2022 is the place to learn about the latest developments in liquid silicone rubber, as well as advances in processing technologies like liquid injection molding. Attendees can also discover potential impacts on business opportunities and find out where new developments are headed."
Tom Jenkins, R.D. Abbott vice president of business development, is a member of the organizing committee for the fifth conference in a row. Other committee members are Rick Finnie and Geri Anderson of M.R. Mold and Engineering; Steven Broadbent of ACH-Solution USA; Oliver Franssen of Sigma Engineering GmbH; Juergen Giesow of Arburg; Amos Golovoy of AG Research; Markus Landi of the Rico Group; Kurt Manigatter of Elmet GmbH; Lynn Momrow-Zielinski of Extreme Molding; and Victor Morando of Dymotek.
