WILMINGTON, Del.—DuPont's line of silicone health care products will be going to market under a new brand: Liveo.
DuPont said the name is inspired by the word "live" and the phrase "to be alive." It is intended to reflect the company's drive to create solutions and products that allow patients to live life to the fullest.
"Liveo stands for smarter health care and positive patient outcomes," Jennifer Gemo Mathis, DuPont Liveo Healthcare's global marketing manager, said in a statement.
Historically marketed under the Dow Corning or Silastic name, the product offerings and packaging materials will not change. In addition, there will be no changes to the products as they are manufactured. They will continue to be made at the DuPont Healthcare Industries Materials Site in Hemlock, Mich., and will meet the standards and quality oversights previously set forth. This, DuPont noted, is something that will be critical as it looks to maintain advantages in the biopharmaceutical processing, pharmaceutical and medical device markets.
The Liveo brand product line will include tubing and overmolded assemblies for single-use systems in transdermal and topical drug delivery systems, medical adhesives for advanced wound and ostomy care, and wearables. The company also is touting silicone elastomers for specialty medical devices, anti-flatulent active pharmaceutical ingredients, silicone antifoams, coating, fluids and emulsions among others.
"We are making significant investments in both capital and resources to strengthen our strategic capabilities to support our customers' leadership in key health care industry market segments, and we are particularly proud of the contribution that our teams and products have provided to our customers without disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak," said DuPont Liveo Healthcare Global Business Director Eugenio Toccalino.
