DuPont adds Liveo line capacity in China

WILMINGTON, Del.—DuPont said Aug. 9 it will expand production capacity of its Liveo Pharma Silicone Tubing line at a new facility in eastern China.

The expanded capacity announcement comes as demand increases in the Greater China area for reliable biopharma processing products, DuPont said.

A specific investment in the new facility was not disclosed.

"We understand the criticality of supply in times of high demand and tightening supply," said DuPont Healthcare Global Business Director Eugenio Toccalino. "Our aim is to meet customer needs in Greater China by building and expanding our supply chain through local production in China."

With its constant contact with drug substances and products during the drug manufacturing process, the need for strict regulatory requirements for medical tubing is critical, DuPont said.

The Liveo line in eastern China will be manufactured identically to tubing made at the DuPont Healthcare Industries Materials Site in the U.S., meeting the same regulations and thresholds for quality and biocompatability for single-use components.

"DuPont Liveo's continued investments demonstrate our long-term commitment to the health care industry," Toccalino said.

In the U.S., DuPont Healthcare recently opened its a second U.S. site in Cooper River, S.C., also for production of Liveo tubing.

Representatives from DuPont Healthcare will attend the EBC Biological Industry Conference in Suzhou, China, Aug. 25-27. Information will be available at booth B093 at the event.
