R.D. Abbott Co. Inc. and two experts from Dow will be presenting a webinar April 27 focusing on the use of liquid silicone rubber in automotive seals.
The free webinar will run from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and is titled, "New Selective Adhesion LSRs Enable More Efficient Fabrication of Automotive Seals."
Speakers include Craig Gross, senior technical service and development scientist for Dow Consumer Solutions; and Gifford Shearer, marketing director for Dow Consumer Solutions.

Gross and Shearer will introduce a new series of selective adhesion LSRs from Dow intended for use on electric vehicles. The LSRs can be designed more efficiently and with greater ease during fabrication, according to Dow.
The new Silastic SA 994X LSR series has 30 to 50 shore A hardness, and can be obtained in self-lubricated and standard forms.
According to Dow, the LSRs have unchanged and consistent adhesion performance throughout a shelf life of 12 months; "robust and instant adhesion" to filled and unfilled PA6, PA66 and PBT plastics; and they eliminate the need for secondary heat treatments.
Shearer, who is charged with directing Dow's growth strategies in mobility, consumer and electronics markets in North America, was hired by Dow Corning in 2000 and worked on silicone thermoplastic hybrids. Most recently he has worked in vehicle electrification and lighting.
Gross provides product expertise for silicone elastomers in transportation, industrial and consumer markets at Dow.
He has developed knowledge and expertise in a wide range of materials and fabrication processes in both the plastics and rubber industries.
