Wacker earns accolades from Avery Dennison

MUNICH—Label and packaging material producer Avery Dennison has recognized Wacker Chemie A.G.'s service, quality and reliability, awarding the German chemical supplier with its 2022 Supplier Distinction Award.

Wacker supplies the Glendale, Calif.-based Avery Dennison with silicone-based release agents for adhesive release papers, known as the "Dehesive" brand.

"Even with surging costs and global logistical constraints, Wacker continued to provide our business with impeccable service, delivery and product quality, while supporting our volume growth throughout the year while others could not," said Tom Johnson, Avery Dennison's senior director of global procurement, chemicals and adhesives.

Ian Moore, vice president of consumer silicones at Wacker, agreed that the last couple years have been challenging—and for that reason said the distinction award is further valued by his team.

"We are honored to receive this recognition for our service to support Avery's success in 2021," Moore said.

In all, Avery Dennison honored 24 service providers and raw material suppliers, including companies that "helped prevent production downtime by continuing deliveries during winter storm Uri early last year in the U.S."

"Wacker met all of the key metrics to qualify and was recognized for outstanding service and support that went above and beyond our expectations," said Kamran Kian, Avery Dennison's vice president global operations supply chain label and graphic materials.

According to Wacker, the Dehesive brand, which it has been improving upon for 40 years, are organosilicon compounds that have been developed specially for adhesive release papers.

Wacker added that its Dehesive release agents are made using methanol derived from renewable raw materials rather than fossil materials.

Avery Dennison is a global chemical materials company that employs approximately 36,000 employees in more than 50 countries. Reported sales in 2021 were $8.4 billion.
