STOW, Ohio—Former Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. CEO Lee N. Fiedler died June 30 at the age of 79.
A graduate of Kent State University in 1963 and the Harvard Business School in 1987, Fiedler began his career at Goodyear in Akron, where he advanced through various positions before transferring to DuoTherm in LaGrange, Ind., in 1978.
During the early 1990s Fiedler was appointed president and CEO of Kelly-Springfield Tire in Cumberland, Md. He retired in 1999.
The following year Fiedler was elected mayor of Cumberland and served the city for over 10 years. He also taught business classes at Frostburg State University in Maryland.
In 2001, he was inducted into the Tire Industry Association Hall of Fame.
He was awarded the Archdiocese Medal of Honor in 2007 for contributions to his community and church and the Father Thomas Mahar Outstanding Alumni Award from Saint Vincent-Saint Mary High School in Akron in 2017.
Preceded in death by his brother James, Fiedler is survived by his wife of 55 years, Teresa; his sons Jim (Stacy) and Joe (Rome); daughters Leesa (Jeff) Blank, Kate (Mark) Williams and Annie (Aaron) Deemer; 14 grandchildren; brothers John, Pat and Mark; sister, Marie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
