WAHPETON, N.D.—WCCO Belting Inc. is being recognized by the National Association of Manufacturers.
The Wahpeton-based company was awarded the Manufacturing Leadership Award for Operational Excellence by the association's Manufacturing Leadership Council.
The company's work on a project "that created and implemented solutions to drive efficiency in product setups and material handling" at its Wahpeton manufacturing site will be recognized Oct. 8 at a virtual Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala.
"The project took two years to complete from ideation to implementation, and its success serves as a great example of the innovative advancements we make on a regular basis to best serve our customers worldwide," said Rodney Koch, vice president of operations at WCCO Belting.
The award-winning project optimized facility layout and material flow through a major expansion as well as on-hand inventory storage, the company said. Benefits include a reduction in product setups, material flow augmentation, increased inventory turns, record on-time deliveries and improved customer satisfaction, WCCO Belting said.
WCCO Belting, in 2019, expanded for the fifth time in 15 years, a project that included 40 percent more space.
The 66-year-old, family-owned company makes customer rubber products for the agricultural, light industrial, construction, sand and gravel, packaging and recycling industries.
