SINGAPORE—SCK cell fenders, manufactured by Trelleborg's marine and infrastructure operation, are at the heart of a project undertaken by the Singapore Cruise Center.
The HarbourFront, which operates two terminals—International Passenger Terminal and the Regional Ferry Terminal—sought products that would help to upgrade its port, allowing it to support larger cruise ships and an influx in passengers. The HarbourFront, Trelleborg said in a news release, sees about 5 million passengers each year.
"With the ongoing trend of cruise lines increasing the size of their ships," Trelleborg said, "Singapore Cruise Centre set out to upgrade its existing infrastructure to keep abreast of the industry development."
Loh Lik Peng, Singapore Cruise Center chairman, said in a statement that the Trelleborg fenders were chosen because they took into account the immediate needs of the cruise center, but also allowed for future growth.
"We have a long-standing relationship with Trelleborg," Peng said, "which is able to provide high quality and advanced fender solutions to meet the demands of the vessels that we not only accommodate now, but those we will do so in the future.
