Pirelli honors 9 suppliers for 2021 awards

MILAN—Pirelli & C. S.p.A. has awarded nine suppliers for their contribution to Pirelli's sustainability, innovation and quality improvements.

In a Dec. 1 statement, the tire maker said the main criteria behind the 2021 Supplier Awards were "care for the environment" through "lower CO2 emissions, high quality, innovation, speed and global presence."

Every year, Pirello selects nine suppliers out of more than 14,000 throughout its global chain for its awards.

"The Supplier Awards reward companies that have distinguished themselves in making Pirelli's supply chain even more sustainable, innovative and of the highest possible quality," the company said.

"The last two years have clearly shown how the role of suppliers is important for the business success of each company," Vice Chairman and CEO Marco Tronchetti Provera said in a statement. With a focus on quality, speed and transparency, he added, Pirelli remains competitive, even during "this particularly challenging period.

"This is why we wanted to reward the companies that share these values with Pirelli, as our true partners," he said.

Companies awarded for 2021 include:

• Thai Eastern Group Holdings Co., Thai supplier of natural rubber, with the sustainability award for its role in the production of "the first tire with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified natural rubber";
• Quechen Silicon Chemical Co. Ltd. of China, supplier of silica, for quality;
• Glanzstoff Sicrem S.p.A., Italian textile reinforcement company, for service level category for having contributed to the production of the first FSC certified tire with FSC-certified Rayo;
• Synthos S.A., Polish synthetic rubber manufacturer, for performance;
• Asahi Kasei Co. Ltd., Japanese SR supplier, for innovation;
• Himile Science & Technology Co., Chinese mold and machinery supplier, for innovation;
• DSV Solutions, Italian logistics company, for service level;
• Deloitte Consulting, Italian international logistics partner, for innovation; and
• Grupo Drivers, Mexican transport service, for service level.
