DENVER—Gates Industrial Corp. recently released a new V-belt product for the agriculture, forestry and heavy industrial markets.
Using ethylene elastomer technology, the Xtreme V-Force Mega is intended for OEMs in those industries and boasts increased performance and extended operating temperatures, according to Gates.
"At Gates, transforming our industrial belt platforms using ethylene elastomer compounds is a priority," Tom Pitstick, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of product line management for Gates, said in a statement. "With the development of our PowerGrip GT4 synchronous belts, G-Force RedLine CVT power sports belts and the new Xtreme V-Force EE banded belt family, we are leading the way in advanced materials development in our industry."
According to Gates, the drive belt offers an operating temperature range of -40°C to 130°C; a 30 percent increase in load capacity and durability versus similar market products, enabling enhanced operation in demanding environments; improved flexibility on higher speed drives; and the elimination of chlorinated polymers, decreasing environmental impacts.
The new belt is available for sampling and full production applications in a variety of profiles and lengths, according to the company.
