FAIRLAWN, Ohio—Continental has taken another step toward its goal of a "digital ecosystem," this time in the industrial and hydraulic hose fabrication space.
The technology company introduced a cloud-based addition to its Smart Test Bench technology, integrating CrimpCloud, CrimpIQ technology and the smart bench for hose building.
A patent is pending on the modular design.
"The new Smart Test Bench solutions are another consequent step toward our strategy to build a digital ecosystem," said Andreas Gerstenberger, head of the Industrial Fluid Solutions segment. "It increases efficiency, accuracy, safety and user friendliness for all our customers.
"This expansion to CrimpCloud showcases the evolution of building quality hose assemblies for our distributors and customers."
With this new application, the CrimpCloud and Smart Bench communicate, "ensuring seamless data transfer and safe document storage."
The system employs an easy-to-navigate touch screen, and reporting can be offered in different formats. Historical testing data is easy to retrieve, Conti said, and the system can adapt to both industrial and hydraulic hose design and fabrication.
CrimpCloud was launched in 2018.
