CARLISLE, Pa.—Carlisle Companies Inc. is changing the name of its Accella Tire Fill Systems polyurethane tire-fill business to Carlisle TyrFil, incorporating the name of the firm's flagship product in this area into the business unit name.

The name change does not involve any changes in product formulation or effectiveness, Carlisle noted. Carlisle TyrFil operates as part of the Carlisle Construction Materials division.

Carlisle acquired the Accella Tire Fill Systems business in 2017 as part of its purchase of Accella Performance Materials, which in turn comprised a number of related companies—including Arnco Inc. and Pathway Polymers—acquired by New York investors Arsenal Capital.

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Pathway is the inventor of TyrFil, the polyurethane tire fill material used to flat-proof tires. It's used predominately in off-the-road applications where equipment is prone to dangerous and costly tire punctures.

Mike Arnold, vice president and general manager for Carlisle TyrFil, said the name change "completes the evolutionary process to incorporate TyrFil into the Carlisle family of companies. The new name will also help us to extend Carlisle branding to reach new global markets, while further supporting our company's aim to better serve our growing base of customers within this sector."

The TyrFil flat-proofing process involves pumping the liquid PU material into pneumatic OTR tires, replacing air with a resilient, "environmentally preferred" elastomer core that eliminates flat tires in commercial and industrial heavy equipment vehicles.

Carlisle claims TyrFil-equipped tires perform better than solid aperture tires and can extend the life of equipment and guard against potential health risks for equipment operators.

Other products marketed by Carlisle TyrFil include: TLC Tire & Rim Protection, ReSeal and Carefree Tire.
