TOKYO—In support of Thai villagers who were devastated by the recent heavy rains and flooding in the Surat Thani Province, Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. supplied food packages to 383 households in the region.
The food—including 5 kilograms of rice and a dozen, 500ml PET bottles of water given to each household—was distributed in December by Yokohama subsidiary, Y.T. Rubber Co. Ltd., located in the Surat Thani Province.
"The recent flooding affected more households than the flooding that occurred in 2020, and the village heads expressed their appreciation of YTRC's efforts, noting that the company's donations after both disasters are examples of its constant consideration for village residents," Yokohama said in a news release. "YTRC has regularly engaged in activities aimed at contributing to its local community and building relationships of trust."
In the past, YTRC has planted natural rubber trees, and provided the community with fruit from palm trees and fish from a pond located on the YTRC property. The company also works with the Rubber Authority of Thailand, ensuring economic support for natural rubber farmers.
