PLYMOUTH, Ind.—An Indiana man died in an accident while working at the Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. plant in Plymouth on Feb. 7.
When Plymouth emergency responders were called to the scene at 12:26 a.m. at Hoosier Racing Tire, they reported to finding Marshall Hunt, 30, trapped in a press and unresponsive. Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Marshall County Coroner.
In a statement, Hoosier—a Continental A.G. subsidiary—confirmed the accident occurred Feb. 7 at the plant, which builds race tires.
"An employee was fatally injured while performing his routine duties in the production area of the facility," Hoosier said in a statement. "We are deeply shocked by this tragic event and extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family members of the employee.
"Hoosier highly values the safety and health of its employees. Together with local authorities, Hoosier has begun investigating the accident," the statement continued. "In order to protect the privacy of the individual and the family involved, we kindly ask for your understanding that we cannot provide any further details."
The Marshall County Coroner said an autopsy was pending, and the investigation was still on going with Plymouth police. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) also opened an investigation into the incident.
OSHA previously cited the plant in 2021 and 2022 for site violations that amounted to fines of around $35,000.
