AKRON—Waze understands that, for millions of Americans, college football is a way of life. So this season, the navigational software company is giving college football fans a chance to let their passion guide them.
Through Jan. 31, Waze is adding two college football icons to its navigation options. Users can choose to have a Goodyear Blimp icon guide them to their destinations. They also can elect to have ESPN College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit's voice offer turn-by-turn directions on their journeys.
And, to ensure that they get to the big game easily, all 129 Division I college football stadiums will be marked on Waze maps.
The Goodyear Blimp, which received an honorary induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2019, has played a significant role in the sport's history, revolutionizing broadcasts as it was the first to provide aerial coverage of a major sports event and the first to deliver high definition live video from an aerial platform to a national sports game.
With this history behind it, the Akron-based tire maker is leveraging its connection to college football and hosting the "Road to Greatness" sweepstakes now through Nov. 13. The program offers fans the chance to win tickets to the 2021 Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic and the 2022 CFP National Championship by submitting their predictions on the teams they believe will be playing in the championship game.
