SHANGHAI—Wacker Chemie A.G. made its foray into China in 1993 with foresight and assumptions about market growth.
Since then, the world's largest chemical market has grown to represent about 30 percent of group sales, or about $2.64 billion, for the Munich company.
As such, Wacker China is celebrating 30 years this year, a journey that has seen four joint ventures implemented, technical and research and development centers constructed and four production sites built.
Wacker celebrated its 25th year at a plant in Germany in August.
An Oct. 11 ceremony in Shanghai celebrating the three decades was well-attended, according to Wacker officials, with local authorities, customers and long-standing business partners in attendance.
