Tire Society Conference registration open, agenda set

AKRON—Registration is now open for the 43rd annual Tire Society Conference and Meeting, set for Sept. 11-13 at the University of Akron's Jean Hower Taber Student Union Ball Room.

Late rates will be charged after Aug. 27.

The 2024 Tire Society Conference is being conducted in conjunction with the 54th Tire Mechanics Short Course (separate registration required).

This intense five-day course on tire engineering is intended for scientists, chemists and engineers. For questions, contact [email protected].

The conference and meeting will be recorded and available for people who cannot attend in-person (a $300 discount from the in-person fee).

All registrations include Tire Society membership, which offers access to the organization's esteemed Tire Science and Technology Journal.

A preliminary agenda has been developed for the Tire Society Conference and Meeting, with Rob Williams, president of Hankook Tire America, offering the keynote address.

Tom Ebbott of Endurica L.L.C. is scheduled to give the plenary lecture and the banquet speaker is Anand Jagota, a professor at Lehigh University.

Other "high-quality presentations covering original works" will highlight the 3-day gathering.

According to the Tire Society, more than 60 percent of the papers are authored by scientists and technologists outside of the U.S., including papers from Canada, China, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.

Presenters are from tire companies, universities, suppliers and testing organizations.

Topics set to be covered include tire intelligence and sensors; interfacing with vehicle modeling; machine learning/artificial intelligence; constitutive modeling and molecular dynamics; mold manufacturing; traction on dry, wet, ice, snow and deformable surfaces; and ride handling, noise, wear and tire life.

Student posters will be placed outside the conference hall, "providing an opportunity to connect one-on-one with the next generation of tire technologists," according to the Tire Society.
