PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Teknor Apex Co. is expanding its thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) portfolio. The new medical grade products are intended for biopharmaceutical tubing applications, the company said Nov. 5.
The new product lines have been designed with "rubber-like elasticity" for specific applications in the medical field, the company said. The new TPEs boast a "compelling combination of performance benefits," including enhanced clarity, reduced spallation and extended pump life among other perks, Teknor Apex said.
"Medical device manufacturers choose thermoplastic elastomers for applications that require flexibility or rubber-like elasticity," the company said in a statement. "And they turn to Teknor Apex to deliver high quality, regulatory-compliant Medalist TPEs with a proven track record."
The family-owned Teknor is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. As it moves into the future, the Pawtucket-based company is working to meet constantly evolving customer needs throughout the medical space.
"These innovative Medalist series (products) are tailored to address the unique challenges associated with the continuous processing of biopharmaceuticals through roller pumps," the company said.
