KOBE, Japan—Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. (SRI) is recalling 120 Dunlop GPR-300F motorcycle tires, size 110/73R17M/C 54H, for a defect that causes inner liner bulging and looseness at the tire breaker edge.
The tires suddenly may lose air pressure and cause a driver to lose control of a vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall covers 120 tires made in the Nagoya, Japan, factory between Sept. 29 and Oct. 5 and shipped to tire wholesalers Parts Unlimited and Western Power Sports. The Dunlop GPR-300F tires have the Tire Identification Number (TIN) 1EU 110/70R17M NR 3924 3924.
Of the recalled tires, 21 may have been sold to consumers; the rest of the tires have been quarantined with wholesalers and retailers.
Dealers will replace the affected tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on March 31, 2025.
