SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—SI Group Inc., an international chemical manufacturing company, has released a new bio-renewable tackifier that the company said "offers superior adhesion and heat resistance in hot melt adhesives."
Known as Elaztobond MeltPlus T8-7920, the product has application in pressure-sensitive and conventional vinyl acetate adhesives.
"Our adhesive customers are innovating to make lighter, safer, stronger and more sustainable products that are better for our environment and the world," said Ken Lauffer, adhesives market development director at SI Group. "We are excited to play an important role in their sustainability goals, and we look forward to further contributing to their future product formulations."
According to SI Group, the temperature-versatile resin is formed from renewable sources and raises tack and peel strength by up to 180 percent "without negatively impacting shear adhesion failure temperature in pressure-sensitive systems."
