Elkem York stands out as local Manufacturer of Year

YORK, S.C.—Elkem is committed to high standards, innovation and seizing market opportunities, and the York County Regional Chamber knows this.

At the chamber's Annual Awards Celebration, held in York, S.C., the Elkem York Factory stood out from more than 170 manufacturing companies and won the title as York County Manufacturer of the Year.

Elkem Silicones USA Corp., a subsidiary of China National Chemical Corp. (ChemChina), opened the York plant in 2012 and has continued to expand the site's operational footprint by investing in its people and manufacturing capabilities, the company said, noting it also works closely with the Regional Chamber of Commerce and York Economic Development teams.

In 2022, Elkem opened its second site, Elkem Silicones Advanced Specialties, near the main York site, which is dedicated to producing high-purity silicones for the medical technology and pharmaceutical industries.

"World-class production plants, together with a strong product line and innovative R&D network all over the world, facilitate Elkem to tackle the challenges brought by the supply chain, push innovative R&D, promote the transformation of achievements and provide more complete solutions for the medical care industry," the company said in a statement.

According to Elkem, the York County Manufacturer of the Year Award recognizes "outstanding" local manufacturing companies that adhere to the highest standards, continue to develop and innovate, and seize market opportunities to achieve rapid growth.
