SHANGHAI—RubberTech China 2020 will take place Sept. 16-18 in Shanghai, as previously planned, according to event organizer China United Rubber Corp.
The 20th edition of the show will, however, be impacted by travel restrictions as well as health and safety concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some 500 exhibitors will take part in the event this year, down by 200 compared to 2019, a CURC spokeswoman said in a written statement to ERJ. All the overseas exhibitors that have not withdrawn from the event are being represented by their Chinese agents or offices, she added.
Face masks will also be mandatory, and show visitors will be required to carry their registered ID details. In addition, overseas visitors to Shanghai will need to self-quarantine for 14 days at a private accommodation or hotel.
As most flights are not operational and with strict entry policies in place, the show organizers expect the number of overseas visitors to "decrease sharply."
A gala dinner to mark the 20th anniversary of the RubberTech China event has also been canceled due to the pandemic.
To bridge "purchasing demand and supply" for overseas industry players, the event organizers have scheduled a free webinar on Sept. 16 to showcase the latest products and technologies on display.
