2024 Executive of the Year nominations period extended

The nomination period for Rubber News' annual Executive of the Year honor has been extended. The new deadline for nominations is Sept. 30.

Every year, the challenge of selecting the Executive of the Year becomes more difficult, so the more details you can provide, the better. And there are a few things you can do as a nominator to help give our staff a better understanding of just how big an impact your nominee has on the industry.

Here are three things to consider including when pulling together your nomination.

One of the most important aspects of leadership is driving growth. Whether that's in terms of revenue or innovation, those big things matter.

Including details about the kind of growth the company or business unit has seen in recent years under the leadership of the executive being nominated helps give our staff a better understanding of his/her/their strengths.

We understand that it may not be possible to share financial information, but the growth your nomination demonstrates doesn't have to revolve around the bottom line. Acquisitions, innovations and brand awareness matter, too.

Getting an entire team to row in the same direction can be an arduous task. But the best leaders do just that.

They present a clear vision for moving forward, pursue that vision authentically and then motivate their teams to follow.

The best leaders coach and inspire by building connections with employees throughout the company. When nominations include insights into these kinds of intangible leadership skills, it helps our staff move through the selection process.

Giving back is an essential part of leadership as well, and throughout the industry we see incredible examples of executives who donate time and resources of their own—or help to lead the company in its own efforts in giving back. Any details that you can provide to this end is helpful.

As a reminder, Executive of the Year nominees must be the top official of a North American-based company, or a major rubber-related unit of a larger corporation on the continent. Leaders at rubber goods makers, suppliers, associations, distributors and service providers throughout the industry are eligible.
