AKRON—In honor of this year's Charles Goodyear Medal winner, the ACS Rubber Division will host a special symposium March 6, featuring scientists from around the world who have been mentored or inspired by Gert Heinrich, this year's honoree.
The program, presented on the morning of March 6 as part of the Spring Technical Meeting in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., is chaired by Chris Robertson of Polymer Technology Services L.L.C. It includes the following presentations:
- "Elucidation of Wear Phenomena and Crack Propagation in Rubber by Advanced In-situ X-ray Scattering at the Synchrotron," presented by Gert Heinrich of Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research;
- "Influence of Strain Constraint on Stress Distribution at Crack Tips of Rubber Vulcanizates," presented by Toshio Tada of SRI Ltd.;
- "Dispersion Kinetics of Carbonaceous Particulates in Elastomer Mixing," presented by Lewis Tunnicliffe of Birla Carbon;
- "Research and Development Applications of Dynamic Mechanical Analysis in the Rubber Industry," presented by Chris Robertson of Polymer Technology Services L.L.C.; and
- "Integration of Smart Functionality to Commercial Rubbers," presented by Amit Das of Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research.
