The award, established in 2018, brings the winner $3,000, an engraved plaque and $500 for travel expenses to receive the award.
"The recipient must have made an outstanding contribution to the understanding or utilization of biomaterials, including naturally derived elastomeric polymers and protein-based bioelastomers," according to the ACS Rubber Division.
Along with the monetary winnings, the sponsor will receive:
- A short congratulatory video ro be played at the awards banquet;
- A logo in the awards program;
- Acknowledgement in the public announcements;
- A company name on the award winner's plaque;
- A company description and link in the Science and Technology Awards section;
- A free table top exhibit at the Spring Meeting; and
- Promotion on social media.
The fee of $3,750 must be paid in January 2024, according to the ACS Rubber Division.
Arthur Coury, a distinguished professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University, took home the 2023 Bioelastomer Award.
Coury received his doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Minnesota and has been in numerous leadership roles in the field of biomaterials throughout his career.
