AKRON—The ACS Rubber Division is gearing up to host its first in-person industry event in more than a year and is doing all it can to ensure the safety of guests and attendees.
The Spring Technical meeting—planned for April 27-29 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, Cleveland Rockside, in Independence, Ohio—features a technical symposium and the presentation of the 2020 Science and Technology Awards. The 2020 Charles Goodyear Medal winner, Nissim Calderon, also will be honored.
The 2021 Charles Goodyear medal winner and the 2021 Science and Technology Award recipients will be honored at the International Elastomer Conference this fall.
Additionally, during the Spring Technical meeting, Seiichi Kawahara, a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Technology at Nagaoka University of Technology, will give a keynote presentation that focusing on "Development of Sustainable Natural Rubber Ecosystem Toward Creation of New Industry."
The technical conference symposia will focus on the following topics:
- Computational Chemistry;
- Elastomers as Biomaterials;
- Modeling & Simulation;
- Structure and Dynamics of Polymer Nanocomposites and Filled Rubber;
- Failure of Rubber Materials;
- Science of Rubber Additives;
- Advances in Rubber Processing; and
- Science & Technology Award Winner Presentations.
Tickets for the in-person meeting are $350 for Rubber Division members and $450 for non-members. The price includes a ticket to the 25-Year Club Luncheon and Science and Technology Awards Banquet.
Student members receive complementary admission as well as access to the 25-Year Club Luncheon and Science & Technology Awards Banquet.
Those unable to attend the event in person will have the option of attending virtually. This allows for viewing the presentations live online. Recordings of the presentations will be available on-demand for 60 days after the event.
Virtual event access is $250 for Rubber Division members and $350 for non-members.
