Rubber Division bringing IEC back to Cleveland

AKRON—Traditions become traditions for a reason. And starting in 2023, the ACS Rubber Division's tradition of hosting its annual International Elastomer Conference in Cleveland every other year is returning.

"We are returning to Cleveland in the odd numbered years, and to cities, such as Pittsburgh and Louisville, in the even years, which have a strong history of drawing attendees to our IEC events as well," Rubber Division Chair James Eddy said in a statement. "Our IEC is now very well positioned to be successful throughout the remainder of this decade."

The association, in a LinkedIn post June 2, said tradition of having the event in Cleveland every other year worked well for exhibitors and attendees.

"Exhibitors and attendees truly enjoy Cleveland as an IEC host city," the Rubber Division said, "and it has always proven to be a very successful IEC host. That, in combination with a proven history of strong participation from both attendees and exhibitors when in Cleveland, led to the decision."

In making the decision to return to Cleveland in odd numbered years, the Rubber Division also changed the dates and locations for some of its upcoming IEC programs. The new schedule is:

• Oct. 10-13, 2022—Knoxville, Tenn.
• Oct. 16-19, 2023—Cleveland (previously advertised as Pittsburgh, Oct. 23-26)
• Sept. 9-12, 2024—Pittsburgh (previously advertised as Louisville, Ky. Oct. 21-24)
• Sept. 8-11, 2025—Cleveland
• Sept. 28-Oct. 1, 2026—Louisville
• Sept. 27-30, 2027—Cleveland
• Sept. 11-14, 2028—Pittsburgh
• Oct. 1-4, 2029—Cleveland

A number of factors are considered when choosing host cities for the Rubber Division's premiere event. Convention center facilities, hotel packages and venue options are key factors, but the geographic location, commitment of the city to deliver positive experiences for our attendees and the city's support of and engagement with the Rubber Division matter, too.

"Having worked with each of these selected cities previously, we are confident in their ability to be wonderful hosts of our International Elastomer Conference," the association said.
