R.D. Abbott returns to spread holiday cheer across the rubber industry

GARDON GROVE, Calif.—" 'Twas the night before Christmas in a quiet warehouse, where last shipments were waiting to go on their routes."

R.D. Abbott Co. Inc. and NovationSi, R.D. Abbott's manufacturing subsidiary, have once again returned to help the rubber industry get into the holiday spirit.

With the annual release of the company's holiday video, R.D. Abbott "transforms a classic Christmas poem into a tale of today's rubber industry," the sixth installment in an ongoing series of holiday productions that began in 2017.

This year's video features Special Products Manager Tom Martin Sr., dressed as Santa Claus, as he reads a parody of " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas."

As Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" plays, Martin takes a seat in a quiet warehouse near racks of gifts and stockings to read the company's rendition of the 18th-century poem.

The video, filmed at the Garden Grove, Calif., and Barberton, Ohio, service centers, features a cast of R.D. Abbott and NovationSi employees as silicone-molded ornaments are made and hung, holiday cookies are quality checked, the sales team celebrates year-end bookings in ugly holiday sweaters and Santa drives off in a Santa-sled-red forklift.

R.D. Abbott said the video features employees from across the entire organization, including members of its executive team.

The company's previous videos include "Feliz Navidad" from 2017, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" from 2018, "Deck the Labs" from 2019, "The RDAbbott Bunch" from 2020 and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year from 2021.

"Each year, Tom Martin reads the original version of ' 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' at R.D. Abbott's holiday party before donning this same Santa suit and distributing presents to the children and grandchildren of employees," the company said.

"Although this year's video is a modern parody of a Christmas classic, its last lines remain the same: 'Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight.' "
