NEW ORLEANS—On Nov. 29, the Polyurethane Foam Association (PFA) welcomed Bobby Bush Jr. into the Flexible Polyurethane Foam Hall of Fame during its fall meeting. Bush, the hall's 36th member, joins father Bobby Bush Sr. as the only father and son duo in the organization's hall of fame.
The honor recognizes "individuals and companies who have significantly contributed to the growth and betterment of the flexible polyurethane foam industry in North America," the association said.
"He worked closely with the association and industry executives to help establish CertiPUR-US in North America," said PFA Executive Director Russ Batson. "This certification program administered by a nonprofit organization helps ensure that foams used in a spectrum of products meet exacting standards for content, emissions and durability, and has been analyzed by independent, accredited testing laboratories."
Batson cited Bush as a leader and an innovator in the field of flexible polyurethane foam. Bush served the industry for decades as both an executive with HSM Solutions (formerly Hickory Springs Manufacturing) and a multi-term association president.
Bush also has appeared before bodies such as the EPA, ASTM International and the National Fire Prevention Association, Batson said.
PFA President Phillippe Knaub thanked Bush and all members of the association for their continued contributions during the fall meeting. Thanks to their hard work, the association has established itself as a credible voice in the polyurethane and rubber industry, he said.
"Our reputation as a resource for sound, scientific information is vital as we address challenges such as sustainability, reliable testing and proposed regulations that may affect our business," Knaub said. "PFA has proven that cooperative efforts by its members can be much more effective than any individual company managing such challenges alone."
