SINGAPORE—The Plastics Institute of Thailand is the newest member of the Panel of Associates of the International Rubber Study Group.
Approved by a Cabinet resolution of the Thai government in 2010, the Plastics Institute of Thailand is tasked with developing the Thai plastics industry, the IRSG said in a June 20 news release.
Among the institute's goals are technology and management development, increasing marketing capabilities and creating a plastics industry database, the IRSG said.
Founded in 1944, the IRSG is an intergovernmental organization comprised of rubber producing and consuming stakeholders, according to the IRSG website.
The organization had 36 member countries and 120 industry members as of 2012, the website said. It does not give later membership numbers.
The IRSG established its Panel of Associates in 1990, and is open to any organization involved in the rubber industry. "It provides greater interaction between industry and the Secretariat with benefits to both sides," the IRSG website said.
