Dow Jones launched the DJSI in 1999. They are float-adjusted market capitalization weighted indices that measure the performance of companies selected using environmental, social and governance criteria.
More than 13,000 companies in 62 industries are invited to participate in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment every year, but only about 3,500 of the largest companies globally are eligible for inclusion in any DJSI.
The DJSI will be renamed the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices on Feb. 10.
