Orion Engineered Carbons, Ion Specialties partner for Mexico sales

    Orion Engineered Carbons, carbon black

    HOUSTON—Orion Engineered Carbons and Mexico City-based Ion Specialties Ltd. have entered a distribution pact to sell Orion's specialty carbon blacks.

    Ion, a newly formed company and a subsidiary of chemical supplier Quimica Delta S.A., will offer carbon blacks from Orion for paints, adhesives, plastics, coatings and inks.

    The agreement is effective Jan. 17.

    "Ion Specialties has put together an impressive team of seasoned sales people, and coupled the team with the Quimica Delta infrastructure of warehouses, laboratories and logistical support," said Orion Channel Manager David Roth. "We are excited to be part of Ion's portfolio and look forward to partnering with them to serve the Mexican market."

    Carlos Rivas, Ion Specialties general manager, said there are mutual benefits to the partnership.

    "Ion Specialties is pleased to represent the leading producer of carbon black, Orion Engineered Carbons," Rivas said. "This agreement strengthens our portfolio and helps serve the Mexican market with high quality products."

    Orion Engineered Carbons is based in Luxembourg. It operates the longest-running carbon black plant in the world in Germany, has innovation centers on three continents and 14 plants worldwide.
