Nexen selected as OE fitment for 2022 Volkswagen Jetta

RICHFIELD, Ohio—Volkswagen of America Inc. has selected two sizes of the Nexen N'Fera AU7 all-season ultra-high-performance tire as an OE fitment on the 2022 VW Jetta for the U.S. market.

The seventh generation Jetta features an updated engine range and exterior styling with robust enhancements in performance and technology, according to Nexen Tire USA Inc.

The N'Fera fitments on the Jetta are 205/60R16H and 205/55R17H, depending on the trim package. According to VW, the Jetta S comes standard with 205/60R16 tires on two-tone aluminum wheels, while the Jetta Sport, SE and SEL models are fitted with the 205/55R17size mounted on wheels styled for each trim level.

The four-door, five-passenger Jetta sedan made its debut in 1979 and is Volkswagen's best-selling sedan.

Nexen describes the N'Fera AU7 as an all-season premium UHP tire developed to deliver "excellent" driving performance in various weather and road conditions along with design technology that reduces noise and vibration compared with existing products.

The tire is H, W or Y speed rated depending on size.

"As we continue to add new and diverse OE applications to our supplier portfolio, we are reinforcing our goal of becoming a global top 10 tire manufacturer by 2025," said Nexen Tire USA CEO Brian YoonSeok Han.

The N'Fera AU7 has some of the highest ratings in comfort, handling, braking, fuel efficiency and tread wear in Nexen's product line. The tire was "bred to compliment sports cars, luxury coupes and performance sedans that require superior traction in dry- and wet-conditions year-round," according to Nexen.

Nexen Tire offers the N'Fera AU7 in the U.S. and Canada in 45 sizes, ranging from 205/55R16 to 275/RR22.
