DIAMOND BAR, Calif.—Stellantis N.V. has selected a 20-inch version of Nexen Tire Corp.'s Roadian HTX RH5 highway-terrain tire as an original equipment fitment on the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer for the U.S. market.
The OE fitment for the Wagoneer is size 275/55R20T, Nexen said. The Roadian HTX RH5 features "enhanced" driving characteristics in all-weather situations thanks to a four-channel groove designed to reduce hydroplaning in wet-weather driving conditions, the company said.
Stellantis revived the Wagoneer nameplate earlier this year to help it compete more effectively in the full-size SUV market segment. The 2022 Wagoneer is four-door, eight-passenger hatchback SUV equipped with full-time four-wheel-drive.
The vehicle is powered by a 5.7-liter, 392-horsepower V-8 coupled to one of three 4x4 systems.
The addition of the Wagoneer is in line with the company's plan to become a global top 10 manufacturer by 2025, according to Brian YoonSeok Han, CEO of Nexen Tire America Inc.
"Nexen Tire prides itself in providing high-quality, dependable tires to all of its OE partners, and we will continue to offer OE supplier solutions to many manufacturers around the world in different markets," he said.
According to Stellantis, other tires spec'd OE for the Wagoneer are the Goodyear Eagle Touring All Season (size 286/45R22XL), Firestone Destination AT2 (size 275/65R18) and Falken Wildpeak A/T (size 275/55R20).
In August, Hyundai Motor Group announced it had selected Nexen's Roadian GTX EV and the N'Fera Sport EV as OE for Kia's all-electric EV6.
In July, Hyundai selected Nexen's N Priz S Grand Touring tire for the 2022 Hyundai Kona in the U.S. and South Korea.
