Momentive gains momentum in the Big Apple with new R&D center

TARRYTOWN, N.Y.—Momentive Performance Materials Inc., an international silicone and performance additive chemical supplier, will open a new 66,000-sq.-ft. Global Innovation Center just 25 miles from Midtown Manhattan in April 2023, the company said.

The center, which had been located in Tarrytown on the east bank of the Hudson River, is being constructed in support of Momentive's performance additive business and is being built on the Hudson Valley iCampus in Pearl River, N.Y.

"This move is representative of Momentive's enduring commitment to help solve each of our customers' needs around the world with high-performance, trend-driven innovative products, and solutions, just as we have for 75 years," said V.P. Nalian, president and general manager of Momentive's performance additives segment.

The new center is being designed with a research and development laboratory as well as office space, according to Momentive, with the goal of being a "vibrant hub of scientific discovery" for the agricultural, paints and coatings, and beauty and personal care markets, according to John Nicholson, global technology leader with the performance additives segment.

"This will help meet the demand for high-performing, practical solutions for a sustainable world," Nicholson said.

Hudson Valley iCampus is a 2 million-sq.-ft., mixed-use, multi-tenant property located on 207 acres.
