MILWAUKEE—Michelin is enhancing its manufacturing process after strengthening its collaboration with Rockwell Automation Inc.
By expanding this link-up, which spans three decades, the "new step signifies a strategic evolution from traditional automation to a digital-focused effort," Milwaukee-based Rockwell said in a recent announcement.
This includes the digitization of traditional manufacturing equipment and integrating advanced analytics and data science tools at the operational and plant levels, as well as the utilization of a "wider partner ecosystem, including Kalypso, a Rockwell Automation business," the company added.
The collaboration also covers joint efforts in prototyping and testing toward enhancing the efficiency of R&D initiatives.
Frank Kulaszewicz, senior vice president at Rockwell Automation, said the new step is a "testament to our evolving relationship with Michelin.
"It marks a new chapter in our journey, deepening our commitment to Michelin's digital transformation in machine automation," he added.
For Michelin, the goal is to "fast-track our digitalization strategies through this sustainable innovation collaboration," Nicolas Jaunet, manufacturing engineering vice president at Michelin, said in a statement. "Our combined expertise will accelerate our manufacturing to scale up innovation through smart technology while creating greater people skills and a more attractive work environment."
