PETALING JAYA, Malaysia—The Malaysian Rubber Gloves Manufacturers Association (MARGMA) has renewed its commitment to social compliance during a recent visit by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials to the country.
"The Malaysian rubber glove industry would like to work with the U.S. CBP like partners, and it is truly committed to total compliance," said MARGMA President Supramaniam Shanmugam in addressing the U.S. visitors.
According to the industry official, the Malaysian gloves industry has been implementing a "zero debt" policy with regards to its employees and initiated remedial actions "to dislodged itself from the stigma of forced labor."
