Ryan Trainer steps down as president of ISPA, MRC

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—After more than two decades of dedicated service, International Sleep Products Association President Ryan Trainer will step down from the role.

Trainer also served as president of the Mattress Recycling Council, and will exit that post as well.

"Having worked closely with Ryan for many years, I have come to value his insights, dedication, and the positive impact he has had on our industry," said Hank Little, chair of the ISPA Board of Trustees and former president of Atlanta Attachment Co. "He leaves behind a legacy of contributions that have significantly improved our organization and the industry as a whole.

"The Board wishes him a fulfilling retirement and expresses gratitude for his valuable service."

The ISPA is a trade association that represents mattress manufacturers and component suppliers.

During his tenure, Trainer ushered the association through regulatory and legislative changes, and helped launch the MRC.

"Serving this wonderful industry and working with the great ISPA and MRC teams has been the highlight of my career," Trainer said. "Our members create innovative products that both benefit consumers and improve their companies' environmental performance. I have had the privilege to work with some fantastic individuals and organizations to protect and advance the sleep products industry.

"I thank the ISPA and MRC Boards, our members, and the ISPA/MRC staff for their support. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and confident that these organizations will thrive under new leadership." 

Little said he has instituted a search committee comprising past members of the ISPA and MRC Boards that will work with an independent firm to find Trainer's replacement.

A new selection will be made some time following ISPA Expo 2024 in March.

Formed in 1915, the International Sleep Products Association is dedicated "to leading and advancing the sleep products industry."

The Mattress Recycling Council is a non-profit organization that ISPA established to operate recycling programs in states that have passed mattress recycling laws, including California, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Oregon.
