BOSTON—Cabot Corp. says safety is a priority, but it also has taken that mission to heart. As proof, Cabot recently received recognition from the International Carbon Black Association, which awarded Cabot for its safety records.
Nineteen of 20 Cabot facilities globally were awarded through ICBA's Safety Performance Recognition Program, and 18 of them received the gold award, the highest recognition. One facility received a bronze award.
"We are honored to be recognized once again by the ICBA for our strong leadership in safety performance," Bart Kalkstein, Cabot's executive vice president and president of reinforcement materials segment and Americas region, said in a statement. "At Cabot, our unwavering focus on health and safety has been deeply ingrained in our culture throughout our company's history. I am immensely proud of our dedicated teams across the world that work hard to ensure every co-worker, contractor and visitor returns home safely at the end of each day."
The ICBA's safety program recognizes companies around the globe that work to ensure safety in daily operations. Its awards are intended to not only recognize the outstanding safety performance of companies within the carbon black industry but to educate policy makers and the public about the industry's commitment to safety.
That mission aligns well with Cabot's.
"We (at Cabot) remain committed to fostering a workplace where we share and apply best practices that advance our safety performance and operational procedures across our carbon black sites," Kalkstein said.
