FRANKFURT, Germany—German automotive hose maker Tristone Flowtech expects its production to be impacted by increased European Union restrictions on imports of iron and steel products originating in Russia.
Sanctions on these products were initially imposed in 2022 under EU restrictions in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, according to a Tristone Flowtech statement to customers. In June, however, the EU intensified the restrictive measures by also sanctioning "circumvention imports" of these products, with effect from Sept. 30.
As of October, it is not permitted to "directly or indirectly import or purchase the iron and steel products" with Russian origins that have been processed outside the EU. The latest restrictions "may impact our, and your, supply-chain," Tristone Flowtech's advised customers.
Spun off from Trelleborg A.B.'s former Fluid Automotive business unit in 2010, Tristone Flowtech operated as a standalone company until its acquisition by Zhongding Group in 2017. The Frankfurt-based supplier mainly manufactures automotive fluid systems across its 10 plants in Mexico, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, India and China.
