LEXINGTON, Ky.—Yokohama TWS North America has been recognized by Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Inc. as a "Global Above & Beyond" supplier, for the Kentucky firm's customer service in the Americas.
The honor is issued based on on-time performance, cost savings and "commitment to Hyster-Yale Materials Handling," as well as "beyond standard supplier relationships" and "unparalleled support."
HYMH was able to achieve a 99.73-percent on-time record (and cost reductions) for delivery of their vehicles, because of on-time planning and delivery of tires from Yokohama TWS North America.
"This award underscores our company-wide commitment to our customers in seamlessly delivering solid solutions," said Antoine Rivallain, global OE director at Yokohama TWS. "All of us at Yokohama TWS worked to give the best overall performance in quality and on-time delivery to Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, as always supporting our OEM customers in achieving their goals, given supply chain challenges and tight lead times they often require.
"We are proud of our 30-plus years working with HYMH and look forward to another 30-plus years of business success."
Yokohama TWS is a division of The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd., designing and manufacturing tire and wheel solutions for agriculture, construction, material handling and two-wheeler markets. It comprises Trelleborg, Mitas, Maximo, Cultor and Interfit.
The company saw net sales of more than $1 billion in 2023. The company employs more than 6,000 people across 42 countries.
Yokohama has a significant ag tire presence through its $2.3 billion purchase of Trelleborg Wheel Systems, a deal completed in May 2023 that also brought a significant footprint in North America. Yokohama TWS now operates an ag tire plant in Spartanburg, S.C., and a Mitas-branded ag tire facility in Charles City, Iowa.
And the company continues to grow through acquisition. Yokohama has agreed to purchase Goodyear's off-the-road tire business for $905 million.
With global tire sales of around $5.7 billion in 2022, Yokohama is the eighth largest tire maker worldwide, according to Rubber News' Global Tire Report.
