NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Holcim Building Envelope, a division of the Swiss company Holcim Group, has been honored by Newsweek for its diversity and gender equality in the workplace.

While Holcim Group works in the cement and aggregate construction space, Holcim Building Envelope works in roofing, wall, lining and waterproofing applications.
Holcim Building Envelope's brands include Malarkey, Gaco, GenFlex and Elevate (the new name for Firestone roofing, wall and lining systems).
The Newsweek study that determined the rankings addressed "gender and diversity inequalities in the workplace." Holcim ultimately was honored with both Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2023 and America's Greatest Workplaces for Women 2023.
The rankings are based on public data, interviews with HR professionals and an online survey of a diverse pool of workers at companies with 1,000 or more employees in the U.S.
Criteria includes corporate culture and working environment, compensation and benefits, work-life balance and management of a diverse employee base.
According to Newsweek, Holcim received five stars, the highest score possible. The company was one of only 13 companies to receive the diversity and gender equality awards that was listed as an "industrial products/industrial machinery company."
Holcim Group maintains a 2025 goal of having females comprise 25 percent of the senior management teams. Holcim Group's current rate sits at 14 percent.
"This is a tremendous achievement for our company and our industry," Gentoso said. "We are working hard to be the model that shows there are opportunities for all individuals in construction and manufacturing.
"The progress we've made in hiring and retaining women at all levels of the company proves that the mold has been broken, and my goal is that we will continue to serve as both an example and inspiration."
