LANSING, Mich.—The Michigan Rubber Group, which like many organizations has been forced to cancel events due to the coronavirus pandemic, said it is excited to move ahead with its annual golf outing that benefits the group's scholarship fund.
The outing is set for Sept. 3 at Forest Akers Golf Club (3535 Forest Road, Lansing, Mich. 48910) at Michigan State University. The group has booked a block of rooms at the Candlewood Suites, 3545 Forest Road in Lansing.
Those interested in participating in the outing can book a room by calling 517-351-8181 and telling the hotel that you are with the MRG. A studio room with one queen bed is $79. A room with one bed and a pullout couch is $99.
The cost is $130 per person for the scramble-format golf outing, which will have a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Teams are encouraged to be at their carts by 8:45 a.m. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The MRG asks that at least one member of the foursome be a member of the group.
A box lunch will be provided, and the MRG said it will skip its typical prize holes and rather direct the entire budget toward the MRG Scholarship Fund.
The group is seeking corporate donations to offset expenses. In-kind gifts will be given to winners of various holes and raffle prizes. To sponsor a hole for $75, contact golf co-chairs Chuck Lenk or Tim Dickerson at 989-615-6800 or 616-901-2440, respectively.
