AUBURN HILLS, Mich.—Underneath the auto industry's transition is a current of sustainability sweeping it forward.
OEMs have become more vocal about their sustainability goals by—yes—bringing more electric models to the market, but also by demanding more of their suppliers to ensure greener supply chains and more sustainably made parts for every vehicle, be it ICE, EV or in between.
And as a trusted supplier in the automotive space, Henniges Automotive Holding Inc. is committed to greater sustainability, too, Jennifer VanHorn, Henniges' vice president of human resources, told Rubber News.
Henniges, she said, is in the earliest stages of establishing its sustainability roadmap. To do that, the company has enlisted a partner to help it evaluate its business and develop achievable goals that will lead it toward carbon neutrality.
At this point, Henniges wasn't ready to disclose those steps, but VanHorn expressed confidence in the process.
"We are doing it the right way," VanHorn said. "We will have validation in the long run, but we are in the earliest stages of that to set us up for meeting those targets. I think it's really setting Henniges up to be competitive, not only for all the things that we've talked about (with product development), but in this environmental world, too.
