SAINT AUGUSTIN, Germany—Hennecke is shaking up production to cut manufacturing times, improve quality and change culture.
The $2.4 million program will run for three years.
"The main investment is around logistics because we have a just-in-time supply to assembly system," said Hennecke Group CEO Thomas Wildt, who spoke exclusively to UTECH-polyurethane.com. "The process is very close to the Toyota production system, but it is modified to our needs."
Hennecke makes equipment for polyurethane production such as mixing systems to fine tune manufacturing.
There are three key changes at Hennecke's meter and mix head site in Germany. First, the site has been physically modified with walls removed between raw materials and assembly departments to help production flow. New workspaces have been built, and process rules are in place to ensure orders flow.
This, along with the just-in-time production process, is helping to speed up manufacturing of individual standardized metering machines and their assemblies.
